Should I Bother Learning To Cook?
Humans started cooking to make food softer, delicious & safe to eat. Bonus is we also got more nutrients out of it. I'm biased as I've already started my path. So I'll answer your question with more questions!
Bored & Aimless?
Get to cooking, or even more intensive, baking. You're not doing anything anyway, you can even play something in the background. Time flies by, you get to learn a skill and eat too. Whether it's good or not is up to you. You'll be surprised at what you can do with a bit of effort and Shrek 2.
Interesting in Keeping Costs Down?
If you care about budgeting and still enjoying a tasty meal, cooking is the most direct path. You can get by on some insanely low budgets if you plan and prep properly. Restuarants or takeout can still be an occastional treat.
Care About Your Health?
Having full control of your nutrition is a HUGE benefit to anyone interested in their longterm health. Ready made meals are unpredicatble. I'll refrain from boring you with a list. Home cooked meals can also get pretty bad, but that's a personal choice. The point is you get to choose flavor, portions, and whatever else. Like pickles on your mac & chez? Who's gonna stop you!
Enjoy Impressing Others?
Everyone's gotta eat & food is one of the most enjoyed parts of this whole living thing. Learning how to do it and do it well is going to get you in the good grace of others. The office may dislike Henry, but that delicious baked ziti brought in last week got a few cookout invites.

Who Shouldn't Bother
If you're reading this, there's a good chance you're already kinda on the edge or simply reading for fun. Hi.
However I'd say anyone who lacks time, energy or resouces should hold off. The barrier of entry for this isn't high, but there are situations I can think of where someone is better off focusing their attention elsewhere.
That about covers that.
